In the most expected trade since... well... ever... Steve McNair has been traded to the Baltimore Ravens, thus effectively ending the Kyle Boller era. Yahoo Sports's Brandon Funston discusses what this means for Fantasy Football drafts, and at the end, he says:
Rookie Vince Young will back up Volek, but he's considered to be at least a two-year project, so it is highly unlikely that he'll be turned loose behind center for the Titans unless all the wheels fall off this team early in '06.
Last year, one of the writers at Multiple Mentality, Vikingjuice, wrote a piece detailing his thoughts on why Vince Young would not be an immediate success as an NFL QB. This raised the ire of many, many Vince Young fans, gathering such comments as:
Let me just tell you this, have you ever heard of destiny? Vince Young is destined to be a great NFL Quarterback and when this happens just remember that a nobody like Phyllis Taylor told you this on 10/31/2005.
vikingjuice lacks rationale to sustain any further opinion on Vince Young
My personal opinion, based solely on NFL experience and experience with the current team, tells me that Billy Volek should be the Titans starter come September.
I feel bad for the company that hosts Brandon Funston's e-mail account. We got 19 comments on MM for Vikingjuice's piece on Vince Young, and MM isn't a major sports portal like Yahoo. Thousands of people will read Funston's article, and thousands of them will be Young fans, and at least a few hundred will e-mail angry letters that say something to the effect of "Ur gay if U dont want VY 2 start cuz hez better thn volek lol!!!!!111one"
Seriously, be careful calling down the thunder of Vince Young fans. It could very well be the end of you. Hell, I only made one little comment about Young, and one of his fans found it and yelled at me about it.
Josh Cohen writes for three Wizbang sites, but makes his home at Multiple Mentality. This article, however, is exclusive to Wizbang Sports.
