A no-hitter can be combined, Ex: Babe ruth walked the leadoff batter back in the early 1900's but got ejected for socking the home plate umpire. another pitcher retired the next 27 in a row for a comined no-hitter. By definiton a no-hitter is when a pither throws nine innings and does not let up a hit.
